Quality Policy Statement
The UXO and Legacy Sites Program is committed to providing for the safe use of land and water resources free of known UXO hazards to the public. Our commitment to a high standard of quality in our processes and our products allow us to achieve the objective of the Program.
The Past Year
- Developed and released over 30 Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
- Developed and released a new Quality Policy and Policy Statement
- Initiated full quality review of Contractors work plans and quality manuals
- Integrated the released SOP's to the UXO intranet for access to program personnel
- Quality Manager is now UXO Tech 1 certified
The Next Year
- We will continue the process of developing Standard Operating Procedures for the Program
- Work towards NQI recognition for our Quality Management System
- Develop and release a Contractor Requirements Manual
- Perform Quality Management System audits on our processes which may cross over into some projects
Program Management Road Map - The beginning
- The first stage of the Legacy Sites Program Management Road Map is complete. This will expand on the Legacy Site Management Framework when it is completed
Support to Contractor Quality
Complete the process of reviewing contractors quality manuals
- Yearly review of a contractors quality manual
Continue to review and accept the quality section of work plans
- Develop baseline template and only highlight exceptions based on Call Up
- Work with contractors to develop and approve baseline
Ensure quality staff (UXOQCS) have required qualifications for on-site work upon commencing work
- Review all personnel qualifications prior to work and have contractor sign declaration all personnel are qualified prior to commencing work
Support to Contractor Quality - 2
Drive robust corrective actions and root cause analysis for all non-conformances to support continuous improvement
- The UXO Program will be provide guidance and support on root cause analysis
Define key quality indicators to measure performance
Perform Quality Management System audits on our processes which may cross over into some projects
Continuous Improvement
Lessons Learned
- Develop a shared lessons learned system that both the UXO Program Staff and the Contractors can utilize
- Encourage all parties to use the system so that improvements can be bench marked and implemented by all
Challenges
- Continuing the momentum of developing and implementing Program SOP's
- Providing corrective action and root cause analysis support to provide more robust lessons learned and prevent reoccurrence
- Holding both the Contractors and ourselves accountable for deliverables, performance and failures - transparency
- Driving continuous improvement and lessons learned both within the Program and Contractors
- Getting 100% stakeholder support for development and implementation of Contractor Requirements Manual
- Rolling out a Program Quality Management System across the entire Program and Practice Area
